Camping at Molas Lake

**This blog has moved! Please check out https://www.foxintheforest.net for more adventures like Camping at Molas Lake!

I know I've been probably the worst blogger out there since I've started working, but who could blame me? I spend 8 hours a day on a computer, and when the weather is this amazing, it's tough to be indoors, much less on a computer. Needless to say I've been out and about. Not to mention we've recently moved and (as life would have it) are beginning to look for a house (eeek!!).

Life has taken me to some crazy places lately and I haven't had as much time to DIY. Instead I've been filling out my time with new activities, spending time outdoors, and getting ready for the summer recital at my dance studio. I'll report back on all of that later, but it's time I returned to my original purpose for this blog, travel. Unfortunately (and whoa is me and my first world problems) I cannot afford to leave the country this year. However, that hasn't stopped me from seeking adventure right here in the beautiful US of A.

As many of you may know the Fourth of July is my all-time favorite holiday. This year, MB and I did the most American thing to do on the 4th of July, go camping. Now, going camping over the 4th of July is like trying to find a hotel in Jogjakarta after Ramadan; impossibly crowded and usually not all that great, but I've found a place. Granted, in true M and MB fashion, it isn't the most obvious place on the map, the nearest town is hardly a blip on the radar. Welcome to Molas Lake, Colorado.

Funemployment Adventures

Well I suppose I would like to think I am going on adventures, but alas, life has caught up with me and it is time to get back to business. There is really nothing too 'fun' about funemployment, now that my money has dwindled down to a few pennies and my travel days are over. However, I've chosen to use the word in order to make what is going to be inevitably painful less so.

Attention: Foreign Travelers to America

In an effort not to bore you to death with the mundane, controlled crash that is finals time, I am instead offering some advice. Yes, you read right, advice. Recently, I have found out that quite a few of my overseas friends are coming to America. One in particular, my summer roommate C, is coming all the way from South Africa to Kansas to get her PhD. Since I am such a wonderful friend, I have decided to dedicate this post to her and all of my other friends who are traveling from afar to the great US of A in the coming months.

The usual rules of general offensiveness, read at your own risk, etc., etc., apply. Don't get me wrong with this post, I love my country. It holds some of the most beautiful scenery on Earth. Despite our tendency to be completely ignorant to the rest of the world, we are a nice and (for the most part) welcoming people. For better or worse, America is my homeland and it isn't all that bad of a place to be.

The list is after the break.

Coming to a Computer Screen Near You from Salt Lake City, UT

If you want to see America, drive it (I’ll accept train, although I don’t know if I’d recommend that). Welcome to Meg on the Road…

"Do you hear that voice inside your head? Whispering to live your dreams instead? Some people cling to what they know, but I woke up and now it's time to go"

Have you ever ran and ran until you just collapsed? Until your legs felt as if they would give out? Until your mind enters a different place outside of your immediate reality? Until everything became, well, clear as mud? I go through this ritual about twice a month. The funny thing is I actually despise running whether it be on a track, the road, a trail, or a treadmill. However, for whatever reason the right string of songs pops through my headphones, the stars align, and I go. When it’s all over, my world becomes slightly less murky than when I first step foot into the gym.

Operation Mountain Guardian...

Most of the world outside of the greater Denver area have most likely never heard of Operation Mountain Guarding. In fact, I'd bet that most people, including those here in D-town don't even care. Normally I wouldn't bother to write about some silly little drill that the media can use as fuel for the America-the-Paraniod fire, but this one caught my attention.
